Three arrested after PolAir follows stolen car across metro Adelaide, SA

Police have arrested three people in a stolen car after being followed by the police helicopter for three hours this afternoon, according to SA Police.

Elizabeth patrols first spotted the stolen green Toyota sedan on Wilcox Road at Elizabeth just before 3pm and pursued it briefly before it was lost sight of.

Patrols sighted the car again on Woodford Road and pursued it along Womma and Heaslip Road’s before it was terminated due to safety reasons.

The police helicopter (PolAir) was called in to assist and detected the stolen car on Midway Road just before 3.30pm and continued to monitored the movement of the car.

PolAir followed the stolen car for approximately three hours across the northern suburbs, through to the western suburbs and as far as the Adelaide airport before it returned back to the northern metropolitan area.

During this time, police received reports of the stolen car colliding with three members of the public’s car causing minor damage.

The stolen car also collided with a police car outside the West Lakes Shopping Centre causing minor damage.

The car’s tyres were spiked by patrols on Harvey Road at Elizabeth just before 6pm however it continued on but was abandoned a short time later on Chillingworth Road at Elizabeth East.

The occupants ran from the vehicle and two men and a woman were quickly arrested nearby.

The three people are currently being interviewed by police and are expected to be charged later tonight.

Checks on the car revealed that it had been stolen from Prospect on 27 January.

Anyone who may have been involved in a collision with the stolen green Toyota Corolla sedan who hasn’t yet spoken to police is urged to make a report.
