Three men will face court charged with allegedly assaulting police in the state's south.
About 5.45pm yesterday (Monday 16 February 2026), police were called to a licenced premises on Speirs St, Griffith after reports three men were allegedly refusing to leave.
Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District responded and spoke to three men – two aged 20 and a 36-year-old – and issued them a move on direction due to their alleged level of intoxication.
During the incident a constable was allegedly punched in the face while attempting to arrest the 36-year-old man.
The man also allegedly spat in the face of a female sergeant.
The senior constable then deployed OC spray to affect the man's arrest.
All three men were arrested and taken to Griffith Police Station.
They were charged with hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, excluded person remain in vicinity of license premises, fail or refuse to disclose identity as required, and refuse/fail to comply with direction under Part 14.
The 36-year-old man was charged with two counts of assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm.
A 20-year-old man was charged with destroy or damage property less than or equal to $2000.
They were granted conditional bail to appear in Griffith Local Court on Wednesday 25 March 2026.
Police will allege in court the 20-year-old male also picked up a police body worn camera and threw it over a fence.
