Three charged over theft from vehicles - Police Transport & Public Safety Command, NSW

Three people have been charged after an investigation into a number of thefts from motor vehicles in Sydney’s south-west last week, NSW Police say.

Officers from the Police Transport & Public Safety Command South/South West Sector launched an investigation after the theft of property from a number of motor vehicles at Greater Circuit, Union and Wynyard Streets at Bass Hill on Thursday 23 August 2018, and subsequent fraud offences.

Following inquiries, officers executed three search warrants at homes in Homebush, Abbotsford, and Strathfield yesterday (Tuesday 28 August 2018).

At Homebush, a 15-year-old boy was arrested. During a search of the home, police seized clothing, prohibited drugs, and stolen driver’s licences.

At Abbotsford, a 19-year-old man was arrested. During a search of the home, police seized clothing, stolen bank cards, and jewellery.

During a search of the Strathfield home, police seized clothing, and prohibited drugs. A 21-year-old man was arrested at a nearby business.

A 46-year-old woman was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for offence of possess prohibited drug and will appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday 24 September 2018.

The trio were taken to Burwood Police Station.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with larceny, dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception (x7), dishonestly obtain property by deception, possess prohibited drug, goods suspected stolen in/on premises (vessel) (x2), and breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Wednesday 29 August 2018).

The 19-year-old man was charged with larceny, dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception (x7), goods suspected stolen in/on premises, and possess identity info to commit etc indictable offence.

The 21-year-old man was charged with larceny, dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception (x5), and possess identity info to commit etc indictable offence.

Both men were granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday 24 September 2018.
