Three Charged with Arson in Southern Tasmania

Three people have been charged with arson after investigations into two separate fires at an address in Lutana last year.

Tasmania Fire Service was called to the Blair Street property in Lutana on two separate occasions in November 2023 after reports fires at the address.

The first fire on 2 November 2023 destroyed the house at 18 Blair St, Lutana and the second fire on 5 November 2023 destroyed the garage at the same address.

After thorough investigation, a 33 year old woman, a 40 year old man and a 15 year old youth have been charged with arson.

Both adults have been bailed to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court in April 2024.

The youth has been bailed and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justices Act.

Inspector Mark Burke said the investigation is ongoing and further charges are expected.
