Three New Visionary Initiatives Unveiled

On April 15, 2025, Science Tokyo launched its Visionary Initiatives (VI)-a university-wide research framework designed to unlock the future. Initially, three VIs were launched. Now, Science Tokyo has added three more, bringing the total to six, and has released details on each initiative along with the participating researchers.

This endeavor embodies the Institute's mission: to explore the advancement of science and the happiness of people and create new value with society. These initiatives go beyond addressing immediate societal challenges-they form a future-oriented framework for promoting research guided by long-term visions.

In fiscal year 2025, approximately 60 researchers will participate in each of the six VIs, totaling about 360 researchers. Moving forward, Science Tokyo plans to expand participation in each VI and to add new VIs in response to research developments, new knowledge, and evolving social needs. By the end of fiscal year 2028, the Institute aims for all its researchers to be engaged in education and research that contributes to the well-being of people worldwide, guided by these shared visions. This is the future that Science Tokyo aspires to-and is already beginning to realize.
