Northern Territory Police have arrested three youths following an alleged aggravated burglary at a Katherine business early this morning.
At around 1:40am, four youths allegedly entered a motorcycle business on Giles Street and gained access to an unsecured rear shed.
The group allegedly located two motorcycles and attempted to steal them before abandoning the motorcycles a short time later and fleeing the area.
Strike Force Cerberus and Strike Force Trident investigators commenced enquiries and identified four youths believed to have been involved.
At around 10:20am, investigators attended a residence in Katherine South and arrested three youths, aged 12, 13 and 17.
The trio are expected to be charged with aggravated burglary and related offences.
All three youths had previously been arrested and charged in relation to a recent unlawful entry at the Katherine Aquatic Centre. Two were subsequently granted bail, and the third was eligible for diversion, and are now alleged to have reoffended.
Police have identified a fourth youth, aged 13, and are actively working to locate him.
Acting Superintendent Warren Scott said it was extremely disappointing to see the same young people allegedly reoffending so soon after being arrested.
"These three youths were arrested, charged and put before the court following another recent property offence in Katherine. To have them allegedly involved in another break-in so soon after being granted bail is incredibly disappointing.
"Our officers are working hard to identify offenders, make arrests and put people before the courts. It is frustrating for police and the Katherine community to see the same individuals allegedly continuing to offend."
