Thunderbirds and Lightning to reign at new netball stadium

The Territorys first-ever premier league netball game willbe played in Darwin tomorrow at the new state-of-the art Territory Stadium.

The Suncorp Super Netball match, between the AdelaideThunderbirds and the Sunshine Coast Lightning, is hosted by the Territory LaborGovernment as part of its $103 million Turbocharging Tourism stimulus package.

Many of the teams followers have come to Darwin to be apart of the action and a further 1.2 million viewers are expected to watch thematch on free-to-air Channel Nine.

The Territory Labor Governments $11.8 million investment -matched in part by the Federal Government in the fully equipped, high qualityfacility was designed to attract major netball events such as tomorrows game.

The game begins at 2:30pm tomorrow, Saturday 8 June. Ticketsare available at www.ntix.com.au.

As stated by Ministerfor Tourism, Sport and Culture, Lauren Moss:

Our multi-million dollar investment in the new netballstadium has enabled us to host this national-grade sporting fixture and toshowcase our vibrant city and unique lifestyle to a huge audience.

Its about promoting womens sports, tourism, liveability;stimulating our economy and creating local jobs.

A number of teammembers from both the Thunderbirds and Lightning also play for the AustralianDiamonds so spectators can expect thrilling action from world-class players. Itwill be an amazing spectacle and the best netball we have ever seen in Darwin.
