Anticipation for rugby fans worldwide has hit fever pitch as ticket applications for Men's Rugby World Cup 2027 open and the 500-day countdown begins.
Adelaide is set for an unforgettable Men's Rugby World Cup experience in 2027, hosting six compelling pool phase matches over three consecutive weekends that will transform the city into a vibrant rugby festival with supporters from 10 different nations.
Fans in South Australia and abroad can now start planning their Rugby World Cup journey as the ticket Application Phase opens today, giving fans two weeks to apply for tickets to all 52 matches of the tournament in all price categories.
Fans can apply for tickets at any time during the two-week period, ensuring a stress-free experience and equal chance of success. Where demand exceeds availability, a ballot process will be used to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to purchase tickets.
Following the conclusion of the two-week Application Phase, fans who applied for tickets will be notified of their results via email from Tuesday, 23 June.
The ticket registration follows a Presale in February, which saw 750,000 tickets sold to fans from 135 countries.
Adelaide is set to host highly anticipated matches, including Zimbabwe making their long-awaited return to Rugby World Cup action, reigning world champions South Africa launching their pursuit of an unprecedented three-peat in Adelaide, and Pacific Nations Cup champions Fiji.
Adelaide Oval will host six Men's Rugby World Cup 2027 matches, including:
- Wales v Zimbabwe | Saturday 2 October
- South Africa v Italy | Sunday 3 October
- England v Zimbabwe | Friday 8 October
- Fiji v Canada | Sunday 10 October
- Japan v USA | Friday 15 October
- Argentina v Fiji | Saturday 16 October
Men's Rugby World Cup 2027 is the tournament's 11th edition and the first to be expanded to 24 teams with 52-matches and a Round of 16 for the first time.
The positive impact of international rugby was demonstrated last year, when Adelaide Oval hosted the historic British & Irish Lions match on Saturday 12 July 2025.
The game day set a new record, with the then highest ever number of hotel rooms filled in greater metropolitan Adelaide at 10,745 room nights occupied - generating $3.9 million in revenue.
Application Phase opens from 15:00 AEST today and will close at 18:00 AEST Tuesday, 2 June 2026. Adelaide Oval will offer a wide range of prices and categories, with standing tickets starting at just $20 for adults, and seated tickets at $40.
