Tickets go on sale for Horn's comeback versus Anthony Mundine

Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones today officially launched ticket sales for the upcoming River City Rumble between Brisbane’s own Jeff Horn and Anthony Mundine.

Tickets for the fight on November 30 start at $29, with around 25,000 spectators expected to pack Suncorp Stadium - the scene of Horn’s famous victory against Manny Pacquiao last year.

Ms Jones said the event would be a boon for the local tourism industry.

"The Battle of Brisbane proved the importance of major events when it comes to driving visitors to Queensland.

"Jeff has fond memories of Suncorp Stadium and we know there’s plenty of interest from Queenslanders keen to see the Hornet fight in Brisbane again.

"We invest in major events because we know they lure visitors to Queensland and support the state’s tourism sector.

"We expect this bout to generate more than $4.5 million for the local economy.

"That’s why we’ve supported this event to ensure it takes place at Suncorp Stadium and we maximise its value to Brisbane’s tourism industry."

Horn said he was looking forward to taking Mundine on at Suncorp Stadium and proving he has what it takes to become a world champion again.

"It’s good to finally come face to face with Anthony Mundine today and I can’t wait for November 30 when we meet in the ring. He has proven himself in the past and I’m not going to take him lightly.

"I’ll be expected to win, so the pressure is on and I’m going to make sure I have a perfect preparation.

"If I want the chance to become a world champion again, I know I have to win this fight decisively."

Anthony Mundine said he while he respected Horn’s achievements, he was planning to spoil his homecoming.

"I’m really excited about heading to Brisbane for this fight that all of Australia has been waiting to see. I respect Jeff and what he has achieved on the world stage, but he’s never fought ‘The Man’ before and I’m going to enjoy beating him in his own backyard."

D&L Events CEO and co-founder Dean Lonergan said he expected tickets to move quickly for the highly-anticipated event.

"There’s been a lot of talk about this fight and lot of people want to see it and for that reason we’re going to make it very affordable with over 5,000 tickets on sale for under $30," he said.

"We are restricting seating to the lower seating bowl which can hold approximately 30,000.

"This is going to be one of the biggest fights in the history of Australian boxing.

"Thanks again to the Queensland Government and Tourism Events Queensland for their support in making this event happen at Suncorp Stadium.

"It is a great opportunity to showcase Brisbane and Queensland to the world."
