Tickets on sale for Roosters v Storm NRL clash at Adelaide Oval

Thousands of rugby league fans from across the country will descend on Adelaide Oval in June to watch reigning NRL premiers the Sydney Roosters take on Melbourne Storm in their third 'home game' clash here in three years.

Tickets for the Friday, June 28 game (round 15) go on sale today, with city hotels, restaurants, cafes and other local retailers set to share in the spoils from the influx of interstate visitors.

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment David Ridgway said Adelaide was well-regarded as a premier sporting and tourism destination, attracting high-profile events that generate economic benefit for the state.

"We are thrilled to be welcoming the Sydney Roosters and Melbourne Storm back to Adelaide in June, not to mention their legion of fans, for what will be their third clash here in three years," said Minister Ridgway.

"Nearly 40,000 spectators turned out to watch these teams battle it out on Adelaide Oval over the past two years, and we are sure their upcoming match will be just as popular.

"An estimated 3,000 interstate fans are expected to make the trip to Adelaide, filling hotel rooms, restaurants, bars and cafes and we hope they stay a while and soak up the wonders of South Australia.

"We encourage South Australians to secure their tickets early and show the rest of the country what fans can expect when Adelaide Oval hosts the blockbuster NRL State of Origin in 2020."

Earlier this month, the Sydney Roosters won the 2019 World Club Challenge in the United Kingdom, where they beat former reigning champions the Wigan Warriors.

Roosters head coach, Trent Robinson, said the team had enjoyed playing at Adelaide Oval over the past two years and was excited to be heading back to the iconic ground in 2019.

"With a strong turnout at our previous fixtures at the Oval, there's clearly an appetite for rugby league in South Australia, and we're looking forward to seeing that support continue to grow this year," coach Robinson said.
