Timber, Cattle, Carbon Thrive in Regional Queensland

AgForce is proud to support this year's Timber Queensland conference, to be held in early September. A representative from AgForce will join the speaker lineup at the 2025 Doing Timber Business in Queensland Conference, which this year carries the theme From Paddock to Pre-Fab.

Timber Queensland is inviting landholders, producers and the forest and timber industry to come together and explore how timber, carbon and cattle can work together to boost resilience, productivity and profitability on Queensland farms.

And all this while also providing the wood supply for our state's ever-increasing future building needs.

It's pleasing to see Australian Retirement Trust come on as a Gold sponsor of the event, after many years supporting both Timber Queensland and AgForce.

It's a rare opportunity to bring together people form all parts of our industry - growers, producers, processors, builders, investors and innovators, all who shape the future of Queensland's forest and timber industries.

We'll get to see the full picture of where the industry is heading and take part in two days of discussion, insight and action.

Day one on Tuesday September 1 the bus will pick us all up at Rydges to go out to the bush at Walkabout Creek for inspiration. The event is co-hosted by Timber Queensland and AgForce Queensland, bringing together practical insights, new market signals and emerging investment models that promise to unlock fresh value and opportunities for farmers and forest managers alike.

The first day is firmly focussed on building farm resilience, and looking at how integrating trees and grazing can benefit land, stock and your bottom line.

The two-day event covers everything from silvopastoral systems to modern construction innovations driving demand for local timber supply.

It's a rare chance for us all to engage with the full timber value chain, from the paddock through to pre-fabricated innovation.

The meeting will look in detail at how Timber Queensland and AgForce can develop a shared vision for sustainable land use, industry resilience and long-term investment in regional Queensland.

To help focus on that there'll be sessions covering opportunities under the Queensland Future Timber Plan, the impacts of new EU deforestation and illegal logging rules, and findings from the MLA's "Steak n Wood" silvopastoral trials.

There'll also be detail on financial modelling, certification and tools like AgCarE, the AgForce developed tool that provides an evaluation of agriculture and natural capital on a property.

The first day finishes with the Carving out Connections: Steaks and Stumps Industry Dinner, proudly sponsored by Rivers Insurance, giving us all a chance to relax and with our peers while carving out ideas over great local fare. We'll also have Queensland's Primary Industries Minister Tony Perrett to speak at the evening's events.

Day 2 shifts to timber innovation and construction markets, showing how the demand for sustainable materials is expanding timber's role in Australia's building sector. Sessions will highlight timber's role in addressing housing supply, modern methods of construction, and updates on mid-rise timber building codes and design standards.

In the afternoon of the second day, delegates will take part in a guided site tour program, proudly sponsored by Hyne Timber, including visits to a mass timber building, a hybrid prefab construction facility and a development showcasing traditional truss and frame construction.
