Time To Come Together

My thoughts and those of the Fairfield City community and all of Sydney, are with those affected by the horrific attack at Bondi last weekend. We are all deeply shocked.

This is not who we are. It is not the Australian way of life. Our country is about living in peace and embracing all, no matter where we come from, or our religious beliefs.

We thank the police, our emergency services and the amazing local heroes who acted so bravely at the scene.

We stand united in grief and resolve. We will not allow this to become the Australian way of life.

I will be attending Bondi Pavilion today along with other Sydney mayors, to lay a wreath on behalf of the Fairfield City community in solidarity with the Waverley community and the Sydney Jewish community who we know are all hurting at this time.

As we come together this Christmas season, it's even more important to reflect on what matters most – family, community and supporting each other.

I would like to thank everyone who donated to the Mayor's Christmas Appeal. Your generosity will help make Christmas that bit brighter for families doing it tough.

I wish you and your loved ones a merry Christmas and a safe, happy New Year. I am proud of what we have achieved together for the community and look forward to achieving more in the year to come.
