TMAG Launches Youth Celebration Event 'Lift Off!'

Madeleine Ogilvie, Minister for the Arts

The seventh Lift Off! at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery's Festival for Children and Young People has launched and will run until Saturday, 7 October 2023.

Lift Off! is a celebrated date on Hobart's calendar and this year's theme 'twists and turns' takes inspiration from TMAG's major exhibition 'Twist' which concludes on 22 October.

Minister for the Arts, Madeleine Ogilvie said that Lift Off! brings TMAG's cultural precinct alive as young people from around Hobart take advantage of this fabulous school holiday event.

"I am so pleased at the ongoing success that Lift Off! continues to experience, giving our young people an educational and entertaining experience," Minister Ogilvie said.

"Lift Off! importantly involves young people in the planning and delivery of the festival via the Young People's Reference Panel, providing them with a platform to explore new ideas and experiences through hands-on experiences and events.

"Congratulations to Mary Mulcahy and her fantastic team at TMAG, to TMAG's Young People's Reference Panel and everyone involved in keeping this iconic Hobart school holiday activity thriving.

"I encourage everyone to come down, whether you're bringing something special for the giant feast or getting to twisting at the festival's silent disco, this is an event not to be missed!"
