Tocal Field Days: Innovation & Sustainability Focus

The NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is proud to support Tocal Field Days, one of the state's premier agricultural events, as it returns to the historic Tocal College site for its 42nd year on 1 – 3 May 2026.

Established in 1984, Tocal Field Days has grown into the leading agricultural field day for the Hunter, Newcastle and Central Coast regions, attracting around 22,000 visitors each year and more than 370 exhibitors from across the agriculture and land management sectors.

NSW DPIRD Director for Education and Tocal Principal, Darren Bayley said the three-day event plays a vital role in connecting industry, education and community together, to create a more robust Agricultural sector.

"Tocal Field Days is a cornerstone event for regional NSW, bringing together farmers, students, innovators and the wider community to showcase the latest in agricultural technology, best practice land management and sustainable farming systems," Mr Bayley said.

"Held on the historic Tocal site, the field days provide hands-on demonstrations, expert-led discussions and learning opportunities that support productivity, resilience and the future of our agricultural industries."

Organised by the Tocal Field Days Association with the support of NSW DPIRD, the event features solar energy, and award-winning livestock.

Visitors include primary producers seeking the latest innovations, hobby farmers and enthusiasts, students considering careers in agriculture, and families looking for a great day out, with local food and wine, live demonstrations and entertainment on offer.

Mr Bayley said NSW DPIRD's long-standing partnership with Tocal Field Days reflects the department's commitment to supporting regional communities and industry-led learning.

"Our involvement ensures the event continues to deliver strong educational outcomes, supports skills development and careers in agriculture, and contributes to regional economic growth," Mr Bayley said.

"Tocal Field Days showcases not only where agriculture is today, but where it is heading, with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability and practical solutions for producers."
