Toowoomba Council Backs Funding for Second International Street Fiesta

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) this week (July 18) endorsed a $25,000 funding application to help stage the second International Street Fiesta in Toowoomba's Queens Park on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

Toowoomba Region Mayor Paul Antonio said Council was pleased to continue its support for the Fiesta, which previously had been staged as the Toowoomba Languages and Cultures Festival.

"I see great merit in continuing our primary support for the festival, which is organised under the banner of the Toowoomba International Multicultural Society (TIMS) and its various sponsors and supporters," Mayor Antonio said.

"The Fiesta continues to showcase our Region's rich cultural composition.

"Council in late June commemorated the 10th anniversary of Toowoomba's declaration as a Refugee Welcome Zone and events like the Fiesta offer new and existing groups a chance to share their music, dance and food with the wider community.
