Top End bushfire season is ramping up this week

NT Government

Dangerous fire weather conditions are forecast for all areas from Borroloola to Keep River tomorrow.

Residents and visitors to the Top End are reminded to have their bushfire survival plan ready in case of significant bushfires this week.

Current Top End conditions including dry fuel loads, low humidity, strong winds and high temperatures mean any fire has the potential to become deadly, spreading fast and out of control.

During a Fire Ban it is illegal to light a fire or use any item that emits sparks or a naked flame during this period. Failure to comply can result in substantial penalties

This week, a full Incident Management Team (IMT) will be assembled at the Bushfires NT headquarters in Acacia Hills with liaison officers from multiagency agencies represented in the event of a fire incident.
