Torrington State Conducts Hazard Reduction Burn

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will conduct a hazard reduction burn in the Torrington State Conservation Area tomorrow, Thursday 20 August, and Friday 21 August.

The 1,000-hectare burn is located north of Stannum, approximately 10 km east of the Torrington township.

The aim of the burn is to reduce the amount of vegetation available to fuel wildfires ahead of the summer bushfire season.

It is expected the residents of Torrington and Stannum, and the other rural properties will be affected by smoke over the next two days.

People with asthma or other respiratory problems are advised to keep clear of the area or stay indoors, close windows and doors, and follow their health plan.
