Townsville City Council Tackles Park, Garden, and Road Maintenance

The recent wet weather has led to a surge in the growth of lawns and gardens and more instances of potholes on Townsville's roads.

Townsville City Council's teams have been working tirelessly to mow lawns, tend to gardens and fix potholes.

Acting Mayor Mark Molachino said Council's teams have stepped up to the challenge of keeping the city's assets well-maintained.

"The teams play a vital role in ensuring the city remains not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing," Cr Molachino said.

"Our people are responsible for maintaining more than 350 parks and open spaces and a road network greater than the distance from Cairns to Brisbane.

"The recent rain over the last few weeks has been great for helping our parks, gardens and open spaces to stay lush and green but has also meant it requires additional maintenance.

"Our teams are working hard to get across the city to cut grass, trim trees, clean open spaces and fix potholes.

"We thank the community for their patience and understanding as there is a lot of work for our teams to get to."
