Toyota Australia has today announced that it will initiate a Safety Recall on 816 Hiace and 1,899 Landcruiser Prado models due to an issue relating to the fuel injection system of the diesel engines in these vehicles.
This recall is due to a production issue which has the potential to affect the tightening torque of the fuel pipe that supplies the common rail. If this were to occur, fuel may leak from the pipe resulting in an engine stall.
Toyota dealers will replace the fuel pipe with new parts free of charge to customers for all involved vehicles.
Toyota Australia will personally contact all owners and also notify them by mail, at their last known address, to provide details of this Safety Recall Campaign.
The replacement of the fuel pipe will take approximately 3-4 hours. However, it may be necessary for the owner to make the vehicle available for a longer period of time depending upon the Dealer’s work schedule.
