Traffic stop leads to drug and weapon arrest, SA

Vigilant police work by Whyalla patrols has led to the arrest of a man for drug and weapon offences yesterday morning, according to SA Police.

Just before 4am, Wednesday 9 November, a patrol stopped a car travelling on Flinders Avenue to conduct a breath test. Upon speaking with the driver police observed the man had a knife in his possession and several others in close reach.

After searching the car police will allege they located further prohibited weapons, an amount of drugs, suspected of being methamphetamine, and prescription medication.

The 29-year-old Whyalla man was arrested and charged with traffic a controlled drug, possess prescription medication, carry offensive weapon and possess prohibited weapon. The man was bailed and will appear in the Whyalla Magistrates Court on 9 January 2017.
