What happened in Bondi on Sunday evening was deeply distressing.
On behalf of the James Cook University community, Vice Chancellor Professor Simon Biggs extends his and the University's sincere condolences to those who have lost loved ones, and to all who have been affected by this shocking act of violence against the Jewish community.
"While we are far removed from the incident, moments like this are felt across the Nation. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the emergency services and bystanders who acted so swiftly and courageously," he said.
"If this news is distressing or brings up difficult feelings, I encourage staff and students to seek support through the University's Counselling and Wellbeing services, or the Employee Assistance Program.
"Our community stands together at times like this, and we extend our care and support to all those affected."
