Wyndham police are appealing for dash cam footage and information after a trailer laden with tools overturned on the Western Ring Road Sunday night.
Police believe the unknown vehicle was travelling southbound on the Western Ring Road, towing a box trailer, when the trailer overturned about 7.15pm.
The overturned trailer spilled tools, plaster sheets and debris onto the road, blocking the left lane just before the West Gate Freeway exit.
The trailer came to rest on the grass median.
No one reported the incident to police and the person or persons involved left the scene.
Witnesses reported seeing two men in fluoro tradie tops walk towards the trailer before running off.
The registration number painted on the trailer belongs to a white Holden Colorado utility and enquiries by police have failed to turn up the owners.
