Last Friday, Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) alongside contractors Georgiou Group and Golding won this year's Civil Contractors Federation Queensland (CCF QLD) People's Award - Collaborative Project of the Year, for their joint delivery of the 2022 Flood Recovery Program.
TRC Construction and Maintenance (Infrastructure Services) portfolio spokesperson Cr Carol Taylor congratulated the team for their outstanding efforts and said this award represented an exciting industry achievement.
"The collaboration between the three parties to deliver this program was of the highest level, which was reinforced by winning this award. I want to thank Council's construction and maintenance teams, Georgiou Group and Golding for their outstanding professionalism," Cr Taylor said.
"I am proud of the calibre of projects Council continues to deliver for our community."
"This award reflects how beneficial successful collaboration can be within the construction industry, as it can often lead to enhanced project outcomes."
Winning the Collaborative Project of the Year is the 2022 Flood Recovery Program's second industry award. Earlier this year in April, the program won the prestigious Queensland Major Contractors Association, the Ian Harrington Collaboration Award.
"Winning a single industry award is a significant accomplishment, but earning two for the same project speaks volumes about the outstanding execution and the impact of the work," Cr Taylor said.
The $300 million Region-wide 2022 Flood Recovery Program is TRC's largest project to date, involving more than 7000 work sites which spanned across 13,000km².
The TRC Flood Recovery Team supervised five local consultancy firms throughout the program's 14-month construction timeline.
The 2022 Flood Recovery Program was jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Government Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
