Swan Hill Rural City Council is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Tresco West Road widening and rehabilitation project.

Council's Director of Infrastructure, Leah Johnston, said the $567,000 project was delivered to a high standard and was completed under budget - delivering valuable savings to the community and allowing for the delivery of other road projects.

"The works included widening and rehabilitating approximately 360 metres of road west of the railway line, finished with a sealed surface. A further 100 metres of widening and rehabilitation was completed along Cornish Avenue, east of the railway line," Ms Johnston said.

"Intersecting roads were also widened to support the safe movement of heavy vehicles, with the final surface finished in durable asphalt and long-lasting line marking," she added.

Ms Johnston said Council staff worked closely with contractors to ensure the project was completed as efficiently as possible.

"Given the proximity to the railway line, Council provided vital support to help contractors secure the necessary approvals," she said.

Ms Johnston also thanked local residents for their patience during the works.

"We're pleased with the improved safety and access this upgraded road now provides for local traffic, including heavy vehicles," she said.

The project is funded by Commonwealth Special Roads Assistance Grant - (R2R).
