Tribunal Begins Review of Chinese Solar Modules

Canadian International Trade Tribunal

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal today initiated an interim review of its order made on March 25, 2021, in expiry review RR-2020-001, concerning photovoltaic modules and laminates originating in or exported from China. This interim review was initiated at the request of Kings Solar Solutions Inc. following a Tribunal determination that the request was properly documented.

The purpose of this interim review is to determine if the order should be continued, with or without amendment, i.e. whether the requested product exclusion should be granted or not. The Tribunal will issue its order in due course.

The Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance. It hears cases on dumped and subsidized imports, safeguard complaints, complaints about federal government procurement and appeals of customs and excise tax rulings. When requested by the federal government, the Tribunal also provides advice on other economic, trade and tariff matters.
