As stated by Morrinsville CIB Supervisor, Detective Sergeant Natasha Lopes:
Three men have been arrested following an aggravated burglary in Morrinsville last night.
Police were called around 11.40pm to an address on Studholme Street, where it is reported that two men entered a property and threatened the occupants with firearms, before stealing a few items and fleeing in a vehicle - allegedly driven by a third man.
Thankfully, no one was injured, however the victims are understandably very shaken by the incident.
Officers responded and saw the suspected vehicle traveling at excessive speed on Holland Road. Police signalled the driver to stop; however, they fled.
Police did not pursue the vehicle, but maintained observations, and successfully deployed spikes on Ruakura Road. The vehicle eventually came to a stop on May Street, where the three occupants were seen fleeing from the vehicle on foot.
A Police dog unit tracked and located the three men at a nearby address, and they were taken into custody.
The men, aged 25, 27, and 31, are all due in Hamilton District Court today, charged with aggravated burglary. The 25 and 31-year-old are also facing charges of possession of cannabis.
Police are not ruling out further charges.
