Three men have been arrested after a utility was stolen twice within two days in Melbourne's south-east.
The Nissan Patrol was parked within a multi-storey car park in Windsor when it was stolen yesterday.
Police soon located the vehicle parked in South Melbourne and contacted the owner to reunite him with his vehicle.
The owner attended to collect his ute and while he was awaiting the arrival of a locksmith to provide access to the vehicle, the alleged thief returned and took off with it for a second time shortly after 1am.
The vehicle was spotted by patrolling police on High Street in Windsor, with the Air Wing being called in when the vehicle started driving erratically.
The chopper monitored from above as the vehicle was dumped in Fisher Street, Malvern East, where the driver was picked up by a second stolen vehicle.
It's alleged the Subaru Levorg began travelling at speeds of up to 170km/h along the Monash Freeway, coming to a stop in the car park of a Narre Warren shopping centre where the three occupants were quickly arrested about 2am.
The men - a 29-year-old from Dandenong, 27-year-old from Rawson and 23-year-old from Narre Warren - will be interviewed in relation to the stolen vehicles and dangerous driving offences.
