Triple threat

Westgate Highway Patrol intercepted a speeding driver in Laverton last night who was spotted running red lights and was also found to be over the limit.

Officers were stopped at the intersection of Forsyth and Sayers roads in Truganina when they first noticed the Ford Falcon as the driver ran a red light about 11pm.

As the highway patrol unit tried to catch up to the Ford, it was clocked travelling 175km/h in a 60km/h zone.

The driver was also seen running four red lights before he was pulled over by police on Fitzgerald Road in Laverton.

The 28-year-old man returned a positive breath test and then furnished an evidentiary breath test result of .118.

Police impounded the man's car for 30 days at a cost of $1006.10.

It is expected the Craigieburn man will be charge on summons in relation to drink driving, speeding and traffic related offences.
