Cricket Victoria has announced its Victoria Metro and Victoria Country squads for the upcoming 2026/27 Under-16 Female National Championships, with 28 emerging cricketers selected to represent the state.

The 14-player squads were finalised following a competitive series of practice matches at Endeavour Hills Cricket Club in September, capping off an extensive winter development program.

This year's program featured an exceptional group of specialist coaches, including former Australian representatives Karen Rolton and Cathryn Fitzpatrick, former Victorian captain Kelly Applebee, and former WBBL players Emma Inglis and Hayleigh Brennan.

Their involvement provided players with valuable exposure to elite-level coaching, with a strong emphasis on developing their skills, confidence and understanding of the game.

The program also placed an increased focus on strength and conditioning, fielding, cricket IQ and leadership.

Pathway Physical Performance Specialist Mitchell Craze led the strength and conditioning program, while Applebee played a key role in delivering leadership development sessions.

Cricket Victoria's Female Pathways program said the depth of coaching expertise had provided an outstanding foundation for the next generation of Victorian cricketers.

"The quality of coaching and mentorship available to our players throughout this year's program has been exceptional.

"To have people like Karen Rolton, Cathryn Fitzpatrick, Kelly Applebee, Emma Inglis and Hayleigh Brennan sharing their knowledge and experience has been incredibly valuable for the development of our young cricketers.

"We're excited to see these players challenge themselves against the best emerging talent in the country and continue their development at the national level."

Cricket Victoria also acknowledges the important contribution of Community and Premier Cricket clubs across the state, whose ongoing support plays a vital role in strengthening Victoria's female cricket pathway.
