The Easter long weekend is the best time to try out The Hills Shire Council's latest Metro Walk – The Early Settlers Walk, from Showground to Norwest Stations.
This walk marks number six in the series of self-guided walks that start at a Hills Metro Station, before taking keen walkers along a route of spectacular sights and sounds.
The Early Settlers Walk is about 11.6 kilometres long, it's been graded as easy to do and takes about three to four hours to complete.
Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi said this walk was perfect to do in its entirety or in sections.
"This walk is a top pick for historians, fitness and flower enthusiasts, bird watchers and those looking to enjoy a social outing with their family or friends these Easter holidays," Mayor Gangemi said.
"It will take you past where early settlers in Baulkham Hills established their farms before the end of the 18th century. It will also take you through the recently upgraded Roxborough Park Rose Garden, which is home to 4000 roses from 80 different species.
"This walk will also take you along Toongabbie Creek where you will discover valleys of tall Blackbutts and Sydney Turpentine Forest, and then into Norwest Business Park, which is one of the first business parks to be established in Australia.
"It's a fantastic opportunity to discover parts of the Shire that you never knew existed, while trying out restaurants, cafes and parks and local recreational facilities along the way," Mayor Gangemi added.
