TSU, DRDO of India Forge Scientific Partnership

Tomsk State University and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) of the Indian Ministry of Defence agreed to further strengthen scientific cooperation in the fields of high energy and special materials, detection of dangerous objects and humanitarian demining. The agreements were reached during the visit of the Indian delegation to TSU, headed by Chandrika Kaushik, co-chairman of the subgroup on research and development of the Russian-Indian intergovernmental commission on military and military-technical cooperation.

The members of the Indian delegation met with the leadership of TSU, representatives of faculties, Rosoboronexport JSC and Altai Federal Research and Production Center JSC at the TSU Research Library.

During the meeting, Acting Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of TSU Alexander Vorozhtsov made a report on the R&D activities being carried out as part of the TSU Strategic Technological Project "Security Technologies" with the support of the "Priority 2030" federal program that could be interesting to Indian colleagues. Alexander Vorozhtsov also spoke about the world-class scientific center "New Special-Purpose Materials" created at TSU in 2025, which received the support of the Russian government.

Chandrika Kaushik, as a representative of the Russian-Indian intergovernmental commission on military and military-technical cooperation, expressed interest in the achievement of the university in the field of high-energy and special materials, detection of dangerous objects and humanitarian demining, biomaterials, detection of people and toxic substances under the rubble, quantum technologies, holographic studies of the marine environment, radars and modeling other technologies.

- I believe that such events as the regular HEMs conference (High Energy and Special Materials) held by Tomsk State University since 2004 alternately in Russia and abroad, will help technical specialists from both sides to interact with each other more synergistically and increase the level of cooperation, - said Alexander Vorozhtsov.

The delegation also visited the laboratories of the radiophysical and chemical faculties and the TSU Research Library.

Besides, the delegation met with the leadership of Tomsk Polytechnic University and the Institute of High-Current Electronics of the SB RAS to strengthen cooperation in the scientific and technical field through Rosoboronexport JSC.
