Tomsk State University and Sun Yat-sen University (China) signed a protocol of intent on cooperation in the field of climate and marine research. The document consolidated four priority areas: climate change, monitoring carbon emissions, impact of the third pole on tropical monsoons, marine research, as well as the melting of glaciers and its impact on the properties of sea water. The signing ceremony took place during the visit of the TSU First Vice-Rector Victor Dyomin to China as part of the Years of Russian-Chinese Cooperation in Education.

The protocol of intent signed by TSU First Vice-Rector Victor Dyomin and Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University Liu Jike is based on the memorandum of cooperation concluded earlier. The essence of the new agreements is to further clarify and deepen the joint activities.

Later, a graduate of the Faculty of Philology of TSU, a Chinese citizen Ju Chuanya was selected and received a teaching position at Sun Yat-sen University.
