Turbocharging Tourism: $2.5 billion of Visitation into Territory

The NorthernTerritory is reaping rewards from the Territory Labor Governments TurbochargingTourism investment with visitor numbers up by 11 per cent in the year ending June 2019.

More visitorsare travelling to the Northern Territory and theyre spending more during theirstay, latest figures from Tourism Research Australia reveal.

Close to two million domestic and international visitors spent $2.5billion in the year ending June 2019.

Thefigures include those on holiday, visiting friends and relatives, businesstravellers and others.

Businessvisitors to the Territory represented the biggest growth with an increase of 33per cent.

Thetwo top national visitor markets, with a combined expenditure of $681 million,were NSW and Queensland, while the top international markets were Japan and theUS.

Dataconfirms visitor increases from each of these four markets, most significantlyJapan, which had a 56 per cent jump in visitor numbers.
