Tusmore Park toilet block mural

Mural option 2.jpg

Background

Who knew toilets could be so stylish? A mural for the Tusmore Park toilet block was proposed as part of the 2023 Your Neighbourhood Budget (YNB) participatory budgeting program. This program asks residents to suggest ideas for small capital projects that they would like to see funded in their neighbourhood. The community was engaged on mock designs for the mural or the option of no mural. Option 2 emerged as the preferred choice. The artwork features mostly shades of green and purple to reflect our Council brand colours, along with depictions of the local flora, fauna and scenic beauty of the surroundings. The central squiggles pay homage to the first creek running through Tusmore Park. The cherry on top? Local artist Genevieve Byrt will be taking the lead in painting this masterpiece. The next time you visit the loo, you'll have a beautiful view to enjoy in this serene and family-friendly area.

What is happening?

The work is scheduled to begin 21 January 2024 and is expected to conclude within a week. It's worth noting that access to the toilets will remain unaffected during the painting process. The mural will cover the exterior walls of the toilet block while excluding the water tanks.
