Police arrested a man and woman after tracking a stolen vehicle in the South Yarra area on 20 March.
The stolen Nissan X-Trail was sighted in Port Melbourne about 4.15pm.
Officers deployed stop sticks successfully and followed the vehicle to Bray Street with the assistance of Air Wing.
The two occupants dumped the Nissan and attempted to flee on foot but were arrested nearby without further incident.
The 34-year-old Preston woman and 44-year-old Balwyn North man will be interviewed by police.
It's believed the car was stolen from Melbourne on 28 January.
