Two arrested following drug warrants in north-west suburbs

Police have arrested two men and seized a large quantity of what is believed to be cannabis plants and cultivating equipment following a number of warrants in the north-western suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria Police say.

Mill Park Divisional Response Unit officers executed a total of seven search warrants this morning across Epping (x2), Lalor, Thomastown, Mill Park, Northcote and Bundoora.

Over 300 plants were located at the addresses.

Police also seized and dismantled what is alleged to be cultivation equipment.

A 29-year-old Footscray West man was arrested at a Bundoora address and charged with the following:

-Cultivating commercial quantity of cannabis

-Traffick cannabis

-Possess cannabis

-Possess materials for manufacture amphetamine-type substance

-Possess anabolic steroids

-Theft

He will appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tonight.

A 57-year-old man was arrested at a Northcote address and charged with cultivating commercial quantity of cannabis.

He has been bailed to appear at the Neighbourhood Justice Centre in December.

The investigation is ongoing.
