As stated by Inspector Andrew Mortimore, Waikato West Area Commander:
Police responding to a break-in at a commercial premises on Duke Street have arrested two people in relation to the incident.
A 111 report was received of an alarm going off and the screech of a speeding vehicle from the areas around 4.45am.
Attending officers confirmed windows were broken and items taken at the premises and made enquiries to identify the offenders or vehicle.
Patrolling police kept an eye out for the potential offenders, sighting a vehicle of interest on Tirau Road at high speed.
Police signalled the vehicle to pull over, but it fled instead. Police monitored movements of the car but did not pursue due to the manner of driving.
A member of the public told Police on the way that the vehicle had crashed ahead.
Two people were seen running away from the crashed vehicle and taken into custody.
Two 15-year-old boys will appear in Hamilton Youth Court charged with burglary, unlawfully takes of a motor vehicle and breach of bail.
Police do not tolerate unlawful activity and crime in Waikato West and will take appropriate action to hold offenders to account.
