Police have charged a man and a woman after drugs and a firearm were seized in Sydney's southwest.
In April 2025, officers attached to Police Transport Command established Strike Force Brunswick to commence an investigation, with the assistance from officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command, into motorcycle theft in Campbelltown and the surrounding areas.
About 5.15am on Tuesday 3 June 2025, police were patrolling Malcolm Way, Rosemeadow, when they attempted to stop a motorcycle, believed to be stolen.
When it failed to stop a pursuit was initiated however, it was terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.
About 7am on the same day, officers executed a search warrant at a home on the same street, where they arrested a 33-year-old woman.
Police seized a motorcycle, several helmets, a prohibited firearm, and ammunition, which were subject to forensic examination.
The woman was taken to Campbelltown Police Station where she was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, steal motor vehicle, possess unauthorised pistol, not keep firearm safely, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit, authority and participate in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity.
She was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday 3 June 2025, where she was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on Thursday 12 June 2025.
About 7.20pm yesterday (Thursday 5 June 2025), officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command were patrolling on Campbelltown Road, St Andrews, when they attempted to stop a motorcycle, believed to be stolen.
When it failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated, continuing to Townson Avenue, Minto, where it was terminated, before police arrested the rider, a 30-year-old man.
Police allegedly seized 1g of methylamphetamine which will be forensically examined.
Inquires revealed the man and the woman were known to each other.
He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station where he was charged with 23 offences, including:
- Unlicensed for Class, Class C, R, LR or MR (four counts)
- Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously
- Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner (three counts)
- Dishonestly possess interfered with unique identifier
- Use registrable vehicle not display authorised number-plates
- Possess prohibited drug (two counts)
- Steal motor vehicle (two counts)
- Face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence (two counts)
- Participate criminal group contribute criminal activity
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly
- Possess unauthorised pistol
- Not keep firearm safely-pistol
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, and
- Fail to comply digital evidence access order direction.
He was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today (Friday 6 June 2025).
