Two Critical After Five-Vehicle Crash in Dandenong North

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a multi-vehicle collision in Dandenong North yesterday afternoon where a woman and child sustained critical injuries.

Emergency services responded to reports five cars had collided out-bound on the Monash Freeway, near the Stud Road off ramp, just after 2pm.

Two occupants of a Mazda 3, a woman and a child, were both taken to hospital with critical injuries.

Another child in the Mazda was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Three of the four occupants of a blue Mitsubishi were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The occupants of a BMW, a Volkswagen Tiguan and a white Mitsubishi were not injured.

The driver of Volkswagen, a 34-year-old Berwick man, was interviewed by police, released and is assisting with enquiries.

All out-bound lanes and one in-bound lane of the Monash Freeway were closed for several hours.

Investigations into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing.
