Two extradited from Victoria over home invasion at Albury

Two men will appear in court today charged with outstanding warrants after being extradited from Victoria yesterday.

Police will allege in court that two men, armed with a firearm, forced entry to a home on Pioneer Drive, Jindera, north of Albury, about 12.15am last Friday (22 November 2019), and assaulted a 35-year-old man. The occupant resisted, and the two men fled, after discharging a shot.

Officers from Murray River Police District attended and commenced an investigation.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives travelled to Victoria on Monday (25 November 2019) and with the assistance of Victoria Police, two men, aged 19 and 21, were arrested at homes in Wodonga.

Yesterday (Wednesday 27 November 2019), the two men were extradited from Victoria and taken to Albury Police Station.

The older man was charged with an outstanding warrant for the charges of special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – weapon, fire firearm at other than dwelling disregarding safety, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, use unauthorised prohibited firearm, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, and possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority.

The younger man was charged with an outstanding warrant for the charges of special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – weapon, and common assault.

Both men were refused bail to appear before Albury Local Court today (Thursday 28 November 2019).
