Put on your best Halloween costume and head to Wagga Wagga Art Gallery on Saturday 31 October for the return of its Jackdaw movie screening event.
For children and families, Hocus Pocus is screening at 2.30pm. The 1993 Disney cult-classic comedy about three witches is a family-friendly Halloween favourite. There'll also be some Halloween fun for children to enjoy before the movie begins.
At 7.30pm things take a darker turn with an adults-only screening of The Empty Man, a 2020 supernatural horror film based on the Boom! Studios graphic novel series.
Wagga Wagga Art Gallery Curator Drew Halyday said Halloween is the perfect opportunity to bring back the Jackdaw film screenings.
"The Art Gallery's Jackdaw film screenings went into hiatus for a number of years, and we decided to bring them back for this special Halloween event," Mr Halyday said.
"Hocus Pocus is a family favourite, while The Empty Man is a great film that was unfortunately released during the Covid19 pandemic and didn't get the publicity it deserved. We're giving everyone the chance to see it on the big screen with surround sound."
Mr Halyday said that while changes to public screening agreements meant a portion of ticket sales had to be returned to film distributors, the Gallery has kept ticket prices as affordable as possible.
Hocus Pocus is rated PG, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children or $20 for a family of four (plus booking fees).
The Empty Man is rated MA and is for audiences aged 18 and over. Tickets cost $10 per person (plus booking fees).
