Two in court over break-ins targeting pizza stores across Sydney's west

Two people will face court charged over allegedly breaking into and stealing cash from pizza businesses across Sydney's west.

About 2.30am on Saturday 14 January 2023, police will allege a Volkswagen Golf parked on Dunmore Street, Wentworthville, before a man and woman broke into a nearby pizza store. The pair allegedly broke into the safe and stole cash.

Between Saturday 14 January 2023 and Monday 23 January 2023, police will allege the pair broke in and stole cash from a further 15 takeaway pizza businesses at Northmead, Wentworthville, Toongabbie, Fairfield Heights, Cecil Hills, North Parramatta, Blacktown, North Ryde, Bonnyrigg, Carnes Hill, Wetherill Park, Merrylands, Belmore, Fairfield Heights and Croydon Park.

Officers from Blacktown and Fairfield City Police Area Commands' Proactive Crime Teams were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators executed a search warrant in a hotel room on the Great Western Highway at Prospect about 7.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 24 January 2023).

Officers seized mobile phones, more than $3000 cash, and clothing to undergo forensic examination.

A 30-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested in the hotel room and taken to Blacktown Police Station.

They were each charged with 17 counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling in company and steal.

The man and woman were refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court today (Wednesday 25 January 2023).
