Two youths have been charged after allegedly carrying out robberies and assaults in Sydney's west this month.
Just before 4pm Sunday 7 February 2021, a 37-year-old woman parked her Mitsubishi Lancer at a carpark on Rowe Street, Eastwood, when she was allegedly approached by three youths - aged nine, 11, and 12. The group threatened her with a knife and forcibly took the woman's car keys before leaving the scene. The woman sustained minor injuries.
About 7:45pm that day, a 20-year-old female attendant at a fast food outlet on Rowe Street, Eastwood, was allegedly assaulted by the three youths.
These incidents were reported to Ryde Detectives who commenced an investigation.
Just before 11:45am Saturday 20 February 2021, the 11-year-old entered a retail outlet on West Parade, Eastwood, and allegedly took an item without paying.
About 3:30pm Sunday 21 February 2021, the 11-year-old and nine-year-old boys entered a shopping centre on Herring Rd, North Ryde where the older boy allegedly became involved in an altercation and assaulted a man by punching him to the face and kicking his legs.
About 12pm on Monday 22 February 2021, a 64-year-old woman was allegedly approached by the 12-year-old at a bus stop at Carlingford Road, Carlingford, when he grabbed the woman's backpack and took a purse that contained a mobile phone and a small amount of cash. The boy then left the scene. The woman was not injured.
About 2pm, a 66-year-old woman was sitting in a parked Ford Focus on Dunmore Avenue, Carlingford, when she was allegedly approached by the three youths, when the 12-year-old boy allegedly took the key from the ignition through the open driver side window. The group then left the scene.
A short time later, police from Ryde Police Area Command were conducting routine patrols on Pennant Hills Road, Carlingford, where they located the three teenagers who were arrested and taken to Ryde Police Station.
The nine-year-old was released a short time later into the care of a relative.
The 11-year-old was charged with robbery in company, common assault, shoplifting, affray, steal from the person value
The 12-year-old was charged with two counts of steal from the person value
