Two men caught speeding at more than double speed limit

Police have detected two southern Tasmanian men exceeding the speed limit by 86 kph on Fulham Road, Connelly's Marsh about 4.10pm yesterday.

Constable Etherington of Dunalley Police Station said the vehicles were detected travelling at 166km/h in the 80km/h zone along Fulham Road.

"It's disappointing that road users continue to place themselves and others at risk by travelling at such high speeds."

"This is another example of poor driver behaviour and could have easily resulted in serious injury or tragedy," said Constable Etherington.

Police have the power to clamp or seize vehicles detected travelling at 45kph above the speed limit, in this case both vehicles will be clamped and seized for a period of 28 days.

The drivers face being fined $1040.00 and disqualified from driving for up to 4 months.

Anyone who sees dangerous driving is encouraged to report it to police immediately on 131 444 or via Crime Stoppers Tasmania at www.crimestopperstas.com.au.

If you can't report it at the time but you have footage, you can upload it to www.police.tas.gov.au/report.
