Two men in custody over Glenorchy aggravated armed robbery

Two are in custody assisting police with their inquiries in relation to an aggravated armed robbery in Glenorchy on Tuesday night.

A 22 year old man and a 24 year old man, both of Montrose, were arrested by police at a Glenorchy residence about 12.30pm today.

Police have established that there was an altercation between several men at the address, during which time one of those men sustained a non-life-threatening knife wound. It is understood that a firearm was discharged inside the home during the altercation.

The parties are believed to be known to one another.

Extensive searches occurred over the past 24 hours at various addresses across the greater Hobart area in order to locate the offenders.

A quantity of drugs and a number of stolen firearms have been located at two of those addresses.

Six people will face charges arising from offences detected at those addresses. These include:

  • A 21 year old from Glenorchy man for drug related charges
  • A 22 year old Glenorchy man for drug and firearms related charges
  • A 32 year old Goodwood woman for firearm related charges
  • A 26 year old Goodwood man for drug related charges

Two other people will be summonsed on minor drug charges.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
