Two more charged over attempted murder and robbery - Lansvale

A man and a woman will appear at court charged following investigations into in an attempted murder and robbery in Sydney's south west earlier this year.

About 3.10am on Thursday 13 February 2020, emergency services were called to a granny flat on Huntingdale Avenue, Lansvale, after reports a man had been shot.

A 38-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a gunshot wound to the stomach before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police were told two men – with their faces covered and armed with a rifle – entered the granny flat and shot the man before stealing personal items including jewellery, cash and a designer handbag.

Detectives from Fairfield City Police Area Command established Strike Force Bellvue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Strike force detectives have so far charged two men aged 42 and 28 and 28-year-old woman for their alleged roles in the incident. They remain before the courts.

Earlier this month, a public appeal was launched to locate a 28-year-old man on an outstanding warrant relating to the shooting and the State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad were engaged to assist with the investigation.

Following extensive inquiries, about 1pm yesterday (Thursday 14 May 2020), officers attached to Robbery and Serious Crime Squad attended a motel in Mayfield West, near Newcastle.

Assisted by the Tactical Operations Unit (TOU), detectives located and arrested the man wanted on the outstanding warrant, along with another man aged 34 and a 26-year-old woman.

The group were all taken to Waratah Police Station where the 28-year-old man was charged with shoot with intent to murder, aggravated break and enter with intent, aggravated robbery with wounding, destroy or damage property and robbery in company causing wounding.

The woman was charged with accessory after the fact (shoot with the intent to murder).

The second man was charged with unrelated driving offences (two counts of drive motor vehicle during disqualification period).

All three were bail refused to appear at Newcastle Local Court today (Friday 15 May 2020).

Investigations under Strike Force Bellvue are continuing.
