Two pedestrians struck by car in Toorak

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man and woman were struck by a car while crossing a road in Toorak last night.

It is believed the pair were walking along a pedestrian crossing on Toorak Road, near Irving Road, when they were hit by a black Holden utility about 9pm.

The 72-year-old man and 67-year-old woman, both from Toorak, were taken to hospital with serious injuries and the man currently remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the utility, a 51-year-old Toorak man, stopped at the scene and is currently assisting detectives with their enquiries.

Investigators urge anyone who witnessed the collision or with dash cam footage of the incident to come forward.
