Two people shot dead at NSW Police headquarters in western Sydney

A critical incident investigation has been launched following the death of two people at Parramatta.

The incident occurred outside the NSW Police headquarters building on Charles Street about 4.30pm today  after a number of shots were fired, NSW police said.

"It appears an officer has discharged his weapon, responding to a report that a person had been shot".

Two people have died at the scene.

A crime scene has been established.

A critical incident team will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police are yet to establish the identity of the deceased.
