Two teens charged after fire in Coogee

Two teenagers will face court tomorrow after allegedly lighting a fire at a unit complex in Coogee last month, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to an underground carpark of a residential unit complex on Mount Street, Coogee, about 1am on Wednesday 26 September 2018, after reports of a fire.

When emergency services arrived, they found several vehicles well alight in the basement carpark and evacuated residents from the building.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze but there was significant damage to the carpark. There were no reports of injuries.

Eastern Beaches Police Area Command officers commenced an investigation into the cause of the fire.

Following inquiries, two boys, both aged 16, were arrested today (Friday 12 October 2018).

The duo were both charged with eight offences including; damage/destroy property by fire with intent to endanger life, damage/destroy property by fire with intent to injure, damage/destroy property by fire x2, trespass, larceny x2, and aggravated break, enter and steal.

The boys were refused bail to appear at a Children’s Court tomorrow (Saturday 13 October 2018).
