Two-vehicle crash involving police vehicle in Yagoona

Police are investigating following a two-vehicle crash involving a police vehicle in Yagoona last night, NSW Police say.

Just before 11pm (28 April 2016), a NSW Police vehicle with three officers on board was travelling towards Edgar Street along the Hume Highway with the vehicle’s warning lights activated.

At the same time, a 51-year-old man was driving in the same direction when the two vehicles collided, and the police vehicle hit a telegraph pole.

The man was uninjured and did not require treatment.

A 27-year-old senior constable in the police vehicle suffered a broken left wrist and a broken bone in his left hand. He was taken to Bankstown Hospital in a stable condition.

The other two police officers in the vehicle were uninjured.

Officers attached to Bankstown Local Area Command attended and are investigating the incident.
